Florida laws are organized by umbrella categories called titles, and within these titles are numerous different chapters that contain individual laws. There are 48 different chapters in the 2019 Florida Statutes and over 1000 chapters. Most criminal laws are located in the crimes title, which is Title XLV or 45. The crimes title has over 100 different chapters, and within these chapters there could be several different criminal laws. All told, the crimes title contains hundreds of laws that are punishable by a potential jail sentence for those found guilty. Title 45 is not the only title that contains crimes; the motor vehicle title, vessel title, alcoholic beverages and tobacco title, aviation title and Florida Education Code all have chapters that contain crimes.
